Raja’s Vision
There are many reasons you and I love Mount Lebanon - great schools, green parks, tree lined streets, and historic homes. Above all, we love this place because of the people we see everyday - our neighbors. The ironic fact is that this community, like so many in Southwestern Pennsylvania, isn’t growing. That means high taxes, fewer job opportunities “close to home,” and a negative trend that threatens our incredible quality of life.
I believe Mount Lebanon can reverse this trend now. With fiscal discipline and lower taxes we can provide a foundation for strong economic growth and a real chance for our children and grandchildren to stay right here.
Whether it’s attracting startups or Fortune 500 companies to a new technology corridor, or luring a wave of quaint restaurants, independent film theatres and more upscale shops to revitalize uptown and Beverly Road districts, our dreams and plans for Mount Lebanon must move beyond the status quo.
If this is your vision too, then join my campaign today! Together, we will do great things.
- Develop a Business District Blueprint: Let’s turn “for sale†signs into “coming soon†banners by building the Washington/Beverly Road Technology Corridor. It’s time to invite the next wave of quaint restaurants, independent film theatres and upscale shops to Mt. Lebanon. Let’s build on our strengths: great residents, historic homes, incredible schools and exceptional public safety.
- Cut Taxes While Improving Services: Taxes have increased some 30% in the past 5 years, with debt increasing 72% over the same period. We can reverse this (excluding future initiatives like an aquatic center and school renovations) through increased tax revenue, eliminating any duplication of services and cooperating with the school district and neighboring municipalities.
- Invite Citizen Participation and Input: It’s time to make public meetings and information available to citizens through cost-effective online and cable resources.
- Take Action: With the launch of the Business Mentoring Group and Mave Inc.’s (mymave.com) anticipated move to Mt. Lebanon, the blueprint for the Next Mt. Lebanon is already underway.
